Please take time to talk about our school values for next week with your child.
Governors are supportive, involved and well informed. They are key members of the team.
Next week’s school target is always remember to look after the school environment.
We are delighted to announce that we have once again achieved the School Games Mark Gold Award for the 2017/18 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
We are sad that Mrs Hind will be leaving us at the end of the term. Mrs Elcock will be returning to her full-time position in September. We would like to thank Mrs Hind for all she has done for our school over the last year.
As you will be aware, Sherburn High School had a fire this week. This has made the site temporarily unsafe. Our Year 6 pupils have returned to us whilst the clear up takes place at Sherburn, and they will remain with us next week. There may be activities that they are able to experience in their new school before the end of term, but as you will appreciate this is difficult to plan for at the moment as the situation remains fluid.
We hope to be able to send end of year reports to you electronically this year. If you would prefer a paper copy, please speak to the office as we will, of course, provide this for you. Please respect the intellectual rights of the children and staff who wrote the reports and avoid reproducing the text on social media and other sites. Thank you.
Message from Yorkshire Water – We are promoting the ‘Float to Live’ summer safety message from the Royal National Life Saving Institute (RNLI).
Everyone who falls unexpectedly into cold water wants to follow the same instinct, to swim hard and to fight the cold water. But when people fight it, chances are, they lose. Cold water shock makes you gasp uncontrollably and breathe in water, which can quickly lead to drowning.
If you find yourself unexpectedly in the water, the message is to float until the cold water shock has passed and you will be able to control your breathing and have a far better chance of staying alive.
We’d also like to raise your awareness of Drowning Prevention Week, a campaign run by the Royal Life Saving Society UK.
