School target for w/c 29.2.16; Remember good manners and behaviour at all times including after school.
We are now in the season of Lent, and our children are preparing themselves for Easter. Over the coming weeks our collective worship will focus upon the Christian values of patience, humility and service.
Some of our Year 6 pupils have asked to organise a variety performance, similar to the one held last year. This will not be a competition, but is an opportunity for all children to showcase their talents. All performances will take place in front of the class, and some acts will also be invited to perform to the whole school on the afternoon of Friday 18th March. This gives children time to rehearse their acts. Unfortunately, we are unable to invite parents to attend due to restrictions on space and please note that there will not be a Golden Book assembly on that day.
We are running a book fayre again this year. The children will have an opportunity to have a look at the books on offer then the book fayre will be open to parents on Monday 29th Feb at 3.30pm, Tuesday 1st March at 3.30pm and Wednesday 2nd March (Parent Consultation Day) 8am to 5.30pm so you can pop up when you have seen your child’s teacher. We have already sent the world book day tokens home so don’t forget to bring them with you to receive a £1 discount of each transaction. Please come along, we did so well last year and bought lots of new books for our library.
As part of our Easter celebrations this year we would like all children to make and decorate an Easter bonnet, in any way that they feel is appropriate and demonstrates themes related to Easter. These should be brought into school on the last day of term, 24th March, when we will have an Easter bonnet parade. The best bonnet in each class will receive a prize.
As part of the Tour de Yorkshire celebrations our school will be helping to create some artwork. There is a competition to design a piece of land art that will be created by Berts Barrow, and each class will be creating large replica team jerseys to decorate one of the viewing areas. We would like donations of plain white bed sheets please to help us create these, any time in the next two weeks. Thank you!
Now that the nights are getting a little lighter we have noticed that children and families are remaining on the school site after the end of the school day. We would like to remind parents that the school cannot take responsibility for supervising children at these times. We expect children to display the same high standard of behaviour as at any other time of the school day, and would appreciate your support in reinforcing this by ensuring that your children play safely, sensibly, and follow our playground rules.
Letters have been sent home with children today to everyone who ordered the Mothers Day Lunch, explaining the timings.
