Friday News 06.09.19

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week’s school target is ‘be present’.

Welcome back! It has been a great week in school and children are all trying hard with their learning. This is a fantastic start and has set a good platform for another successful year.

We would like to welcome all the new families who have joined our school this term. It is great to have new members of our school community.

The PTA AGM will be held in school at 7pm on Tuesday 24th September. All parents and carers are automatically members of the PTA and we would encourage you to come along and find out what is happening this year. Volunteers are always welcome, but there is no expectation to get involved – any sort of help benefits our children.

Please remember that if you have a question or concern, the best person to speak to is your child’s class teacher. If they are unavailable due to their teaching commitments, they will try to make a convenient appointment with you. If they are unable to solve an issue, please speak to Mrs Law or Mr Weights.

Don’t forget to use our website calendar for events that will be happening this term. This will be constantly updated as things are planned, and should be the first point of contact for dates and events.

Monk Fryston Beer Festival takes place next weekend. It is a fantastic and incredibly popular event. Tickets are on sale through local outlets. Please do support the event as all profits are shared between the school and community association, and so directly benefit our children.  On top of  20+ fine local ales, Saturday is a family day with everything for the kids from Punch and Judy, organised sport activities to bouncy castles and crafts.

Advanced tickets can still be bought for £5 or £7.50 on the door, free to all kids accompanied by an adult.

Our Fish! Philosophy is very important to us, and we would welcome your support in reminding children to: choose a positive attitude; be present; make someone’s day; and have fun.

Please see attached letter from Mr Weights regarding an early school closure on 27th September.

From now until mid-November, school is taking part in the Aldi KIT FOR SCHOOLS promotion, which aims to improve the healthy eating habits of 1.2 million children by 2020.

Whenever you spend £30 or more in any Aldi store, you will receive a special Team GB athlete sticker. When we collect 300 stickers, school will receive an exclusive sports kit and the chance to win £20,000 for school.

All stickers can be dropped off in the collection box in the school entrance.

Many thanks for your support.
