Friday News 10.01.20
Dear Parents/Carers,
Next week’s school target is remember to follow instructions first time.
During the autumn term, governors and staff reflected upon what we want to achieve as a school. Quite simply, we want to develop “Good people, doing well”. The inspiration for this came from the book of Titus in the bible, and we know that if we help everyone in our school to be responsible and well behaved ‘good people’, and teach them to a high standard then they will ‘do well’. This is certainly our inspiration for 2020 and we would welcome your support in achieving this aspiration. We have also revised our values and aim to display these in the next few weeks.
This term we are launching our ‘Active Selfie’ campaign. We would like children to take photos of themselves (or have someone else take a photo) doing an activity. This could be a sport, dance, walking the dog, or a ramble in the countryside. The idea is to share how much fun activity can be, so the more interesting the photo the better. These should be as high quality as possible please. The best photos will be made into large prints that we will display around school. We won’t judge them until the summer term, so there is plenty of time to work on an entry. Photos should be submitted to selfies@mf.starmat.uk
We would like to welcome Miss Jaques, Miss Graddon & Miss Carter to our school. Miss Jaques is teaching our Reception class, Miss Graddon supports learning in Year 3 and Year 5 and Miss Carter trainee teacher in Year 2.
We are delighted that our new wellbeing room, ‘The Headspace’ is nearing completion. The structure has been finished and we are now working on the internal furnishings. We hope to be able to announce a date for a grand opening soon.
Unfortunately, the Year 5 class assembly that was advertised for next Friday has been postponed. This will now be a normal Golden Book assembly.
We done to everyone who has represented out school this week. Our Year 5 children did a brilliant job at Young Voices, contributing to an amazing concert. Our Year 1 children presented an incredible dance at the School Games area dance festival. We are very proud of all of them.
PLEASE check all uniform/bags/coats etc are named, we have mountains of un-named uniform that we cannot return to the children. Check that names haven’t washed out, labels fallen off etc etc. Thank you.
We seem to have lost a lot of spoons, could you check at home to see if any children have brought them home by mistake, some children having packed lunches sometimes borrow them. Thank you!
If your child has packed lunches, please remember to include a spoon if they are having a yoghurt etc.
There is a pantomime performance at Brotherton Parrish Hall, please see attached flyer for details.
