Friday News 12.2.16

Dear Parents/Carers,

School target for w/c 22.2.16; Remember to be polite and show respect to everyone.

The accounts for the South Milford bonfire have been finalised, and we have now received a cheque from the organising committee in recognition of our contribution to the event. This was for the huge amount of £4350, which is incredible! Thank you to everyone who sponsored the event, or gave their time over the weekend. This amount directly reflects everything we provided to make sure it was successful. The PTA will use the funds to purchase two new projection screens in classrooms.

Mrs Strathearn is due to return from maternity leave after Easter. She has applied to return on a part-time basis, and governors are delighted to have appointed Mrs Alderson to teach the class for the other days in the week. We would like to congratulate her on this appointment, which we are sure will highly beneficial to our school.

Following an extensive recruitment process, governors are delighted to have appointed a new teaching assistant, Miss Fletcher, to work with pupils in KS2. Miss Fletcher is very experienced in this role and comes highly recommended. She currently works at Tockwith Primary School.

We have also appointed a new lunchtime supervisor, Miss Bradford who will join us after half term.

Are your children at a loose end over half term? Have they to stay inside because of bad weather? Try encouraging them to login to Sumdog or Skoolbo! These online activities help them to keep their English and maths skills sharp and have been proven to support their progress.

We are really pleased that our children enjoy coming to school and that they attend regularly. This is important for their learning. If you know that they will be absent from school due to a planned reason please remember to fill in a request form so that we know where they will be. Please note that in accordance with DFE guidelines we are unable to authorise absence due to family holiday, although we still need to know that the child will not be present in school.

If you would like to attend the ‘Mother’s Day Lunch’ please send money in a named envelope by Tuesday 23rd February.  For more details please refer back to the ‘Friday News 5.2.16’
