Friday News 13.03.20
Dear Parents/Carers,
Next week’s target is remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly.
We receive daily guidance from the government on Coronavirus and will continue
to monitor the situation closely. We believe that at some point we may be instructed
to close the school. In this eventuality we will set some work for children
electronically. Please ensure that your child can access our internet-based
resources. If you do not have computer access at home please alert your child's
teacher.
Unfortunately, as indicated in the letter from the STAR MAT, we have had to
cancel all non-essential meetings and visits. Therefore the Year 4 class assembly
next week will not take place. We will not invite parents into any assemblies until
Easter, and all school trips and events that are planned this term will be postponed. We will not have open classrooms on the 25th March and the film night next week will now not take place.
Congratulations to the children from Year 6 who participated in the North Yorkshire
County Council debating competition, held in Selby Council chambers. They were a
credit to our school, debating sensitive topics maturely and articulately. Although we
didn’t win the competition, Libby Bailey received the award for the best presentation
as she spoke so fluently and passionately. Well done!
Thank you to everyone who supported the Bear & the Piano event for World Book
Week last Friday. This was a wonderful event that many families enjoyed, and also
raised over £170 for school music resources.
Please note that staff toilets located near the school entrance are for use by adults and
disabled people only. We will delay cleaning KS2 toilets until the evening so that children
attending clubs are able to use these facilities after school.

Message from Berts Barrow – On Friday 27th March it’s our first pizza night & fundraiser for your school at Bert’s Barrow! Please see details below ……
Back due to popular demand! Friday night street food night is back at Bert’s Barrow
Kead n Feed will be back with their authentic hand made wood fired pizzas using only locally sourced toppings! The Liquid Catering bar will be fully stocked. We will have live acoustic music too from Andrew Cox Acoustic. The ticket is to confirm your time slot at the oven. You will need to decide your pizza flavour and pay for it once you get here. The £1 per person ticket fee contributes to running the event. You do not have to book a ticket, however it guarantees you a slot in the oven – these events have proven to be very popular in the past, and you risk missing out if you haven’t booked a ticket.
