Friday News 17.05.19

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week’s school target is remember to be a good friend to everyone.

Please take time to talk about our school values with your child – we respect others, ensuring that every child has the right to learn and every teacher has the right to teach.

Well done to our KS2 pupils who took their tests brilliantly this week. They were very conscientious and all tried their best, and we look forward to receiving their results in July. Thank you for helping us to maintain a calm environment throughout the week. After half term, Year 1 pupils will have their phonics screening check and Year 4 pupils will have their times tables check.

Our Reception children did a ‘muddy puddle’ walk yesterday. They had a brilliant time and raised nearly £300 for Save the Children UK. Well done! Thank you to everyone who supported them.

We are planning an environmental awareness day on Tuesday 11th June. Children will work in mixed-aged classes for the day on environmental activities aimed at developing their understanding of a range of environmentally-related themes.

Please keep an eye out for any little decorated stones hidden in our school grounds or in the community. They have been made by the children who attend Healthy Minds Club as part of an initiative to spread kindness! If your child is lucky enough to find one, they can either hide it again somewhere else, or keep it and make a new one of their own to hide. Let’s keep the kindness going! #kindessrocks

On Friday 7th June, we are taking part in the BookTrust’s Pyjamarama day. Please allow your child to wear Pyjamas for the day and donate £1. Pyjamarama has been set up to raise money for children, who for a variety of reasons, don’t have access to a bedtime story. As a school, we recognise how invaluable bedtime reading is and believe that no child should be without a bedtime story. Please help us to support this wonderful cause.

There is a free first aid course being held in Sherburn for parents, please see the attached flyer for more details.

Leeds Rhinos are running a netball camp in the May holiday’s, follow this link for more details.
