With the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Afternoon rapidly approaching (Fri 25th Sept), we would like to ask for everyone’s help in providing some tasty treats to sell on the day. Year 6 will be baking in class on Friday, but we would really appreciate some buns, cakes, biscuits, etc to enhance our selection! All donations (bought or homemade!) will be very gratefully accepted. You are welcome to join in this event from 2.30pm and help us to raise funds for this very worthy cause. Please note that there will be no assembly next Friday.
Parents who attended the welcome evenings for children in Key Stage 2 since the start of the term heard about the changes that are happening to assessment this year. We introduced this to you in June, and attach the letter and new assessment scale again for your information. All children will be benchmarked against this scale later in the term and we will report these starting points to you before Christmas.
Unfortunately we have experienced extreme congestion in the area this week due to parents not parking sensibly when dropping off or collecting children from school. Extremely dangerous driving was observed in Chestnut Green. We have informed the police about this and they will start to patrol the area. We will also appoint new Junior Road Safety Officers who will help to raise awareness with those people parking inappropriately. You can help us by making sure you always park safely when visiting our school.
Thank you to everyone who attended the new class welcome evenings. We hope you found them valuable and informative. Don’t forget that teachers are always happy to discuss concerns or worries, and we are always happy to provide curriculum information or ideas for how you can support your child’s learning at home. If you want to see a teacher it is always best to make an appointment through the school office to ensure availability.
Each year we have a fantastic group of parents and friends who help out in school. We have a real variety of things that we need support in, from activities in the classroom, to cataloguing our resources. If you are able to offer us any time, either on a regular weekly basis or ad hoc, please let the office know. Also, if you can regularly spare half an hour either at 9am or 3pm to listen to a child read that would be fantastic!
