You may be aware that our school subscribes to the ‘Cool Milk’ scheme. This provides any children under the age of 5 with a free glass of fresh milk every day. Older children may choose to purchase milk at a very reasonable price. If you are interested in subscribing to this scheme for your child please do so via their website https://www.coolmilk.com/
Reading is very important to us, and we give it high importance in school. The government has recently published a ‘top 10 tips’ for parents to help children read at home: https://www.gov.uk/government/
We are pleased to see that a number of children have purchased school hoodies for use in PE lessons. However, these are not part of our everyday uniform and should only be used in PE. For everyday wear, children should still have red or grey sweatshirts.
This year, the PTA has agreed to fundraise for additional Chromebooks. These have been used increasingly in classes and we want to keep them in use throughout our curriculum. We would really benefit from an additional school set so that children throughout school can continue to benefit.
We are very pleased with the way that our one-way system is working around the site; thank you for remembering to follow this and complying with our regulations. It does create increased footfall around the Community Centre and there has been several near-misses involving traffic, so please be especially safe around this area and ensure that children are appropriately supervised.
PTA will be running a craft competition for Halloween. They are inviting children to take a photo of something ‘crafty’ they have done (pumpkin carving, dressing up, pictures etc) on a Halloween theme, and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org with a £2 donation through ParentPay. Entries will close on Sunday 1st November, and the best photos will be shown on the PTA Facebook page.
You will know that our PTA has registered with Amazon Smile, which provides a donation for purchases made through their site. For us to benefit from this, only purchases made through Amazon Smile will qualify, and so please ensure that you have registered, choose Monk Fryston PTA as your chosen charity and are making purchases through the Smile website wherever possible.
We are delighted to have been in touch with the North Pole and Santa has confirmed that he is able to send individual personalised video messages to children this year, as there won’t be a Christmas Fair. Messages will cost £4 and will include a gift in the same way that the grotto would work. Registration details will be sent out soon.
Thank you for the kind donations of harvest goods. We are continuing to collect non-perishable items throughout next week and will take these to the Food Bank once they have been sanitised.
