Friday News 20.11.20

The target for next week target is – Remember to play sensibly at playtimes.

Should you believe your child to have Covid-19 symptoms and need to go into self-isolation, please notify the school office in the usual way via phone or email.

Should you receive a ‘test positive’ result for your child it is VITAL that you notify us as soon as possible: During school hours – directly to the school office via 01977 682388.

Out of hours send an email to covid@mf.starmat.uk  (stating student’s full name and class, contact phone number, date and time of  positive Covid test result – please use TEST POSITIVE in the title)

It is VITAL that you let us know as soon as you possibly can so that we can implement contingency planning.

Following a great deal of consideration, we have decided to try shortening the staggered start to the day. This has been explained in a letter to parents. The new timings from Monday will be:

08:50   Year 1 & Year 4

08:55   Year 2 & Year 5

09:00   Year 3 & Year 6

09:05   EYFS

We will continue to keep this under close review and should we encounter safety risks we may need to make further adjustments.

Thank you for continuing to follow our safety measures and social distancing guidance. We have noticed that some children are playing on the tyres on the way out of school. Please continue to encourage them to leave the site promptly so that no congestion is caused on the way out and we keep bubbles separated. We are all working really hard to maintain safety in school and would not want this to be undermined by behaviour at the end of the day.

We are working with the Energy Doctor to promote Big Energy Saving Winter, a campaign to help households to save money and energy this winter. Every week we will bring you a new top tip and for further information or advice you can contact Kate, the Energy Doctor on 01757 249100 or kate@yorkshireenergydoctor.org.uk.
Tip of the Week:

Are you eligible for £140 towards your winter energy bills? The Warm Home Discount is a government scheme that gives a one-off grant of £140 to eligible households over the winter. You may be eligible if your household income is under £16,190 and there are children, someone with a disability or someone of pensionable age in your home. You need to apply to your electricity supplier but can find more information here: bit.ly/whdinfo2020

If you shop Amazon Black Friday Week deals from 20th – 30th November, you can do more than discover great deals: Simply shop at smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/1102499-0 or with AmazonSmile ON in the Amazon Shopping app, and AmazonSmile donates to Monk Fryston PTA at no extra cost.

We will be putting the Christmas Card post box in school again this year. Children can write cards to their friends (in our school only please!) and post them in the box in the school entrance. Please ensure that the full name and class is written on the envelope. We will leave cards in the box to sanitise before delivering them so please be patient – we will make sure that they are given out before Christmas.

This year we will be participating in Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children on 11th December. Children are invited to come into school in their jumper on that day. Donations can be made by ParentPay – we will advise when this is available.
