Dear Parents/Carers,

Please take time to talk about our school values for next week with your child.
We are central and valued within the community and the community is an extension of life in school.

Year 2 are our top attendees this week with 99%. Fantastic!

Thank you to the parents who attended information evenings for Year 1 and Year 2 this week. We hope that you found these valuable. Information evenings for KS2 classes will take place in September.

We have noticed that some children are getting ready for the holidays by having hair cuts and ear piercings. We understand the desire to do this at this time of year, but do expect all children to adhere to our uniform and jewellery policy until the end of term. Please ensure that your child does not come into school with an extreme or radical hair cut in September.

Parents of children in North Yorkshire schools are increasingly using social networking sites such as Facebook to talk to their friends. Sometimes parents have used these sites to criticise or make inappropriate comments about schools or even individual teachers. Making defamatory comments on the internet has exactly the same serious legal consequences as if they are made directly to someone else. Legal action could be taken against the person who has made the online comment. Similarly threats of violence can lead to criminal proceedings under the Malicious Communications Act 1988. If you have any concerns about anything which happens in school please speak to your child’s class teacher or the Headteacher who will do their best to resolve things. If you are still unhappy we have a complaints procedure which will ensure that your concerns are investigated thoroughly and appropriate action taken.

Thank you for supporting our drive for continued high attendance this year. We know that the vast majority of our children attend school regularly, and we are grateful for your support in ensuring that this happens. We understand that circumstances arise which mean that occasionally children aren’t able to attend, but it is great to know that you help us to reduce absence and make sure that children attend whenever they are able. We are very pleased that our attendance this year is 96.9% which is slightly higher than the national average of 96.1%.

Thank you to the parents that have returned reply slips from reports. It is important that we have these for all pupils, even if there are no comments attached, so that we know you have received your child’s report. All outstanding slips should be returned by Tuesday please.

It has been another very busy and exciting year! As a school we do an incredible amount of activities, and we are continually amazed at the things we achieve together. We rely on a great number of people to be able to do these activities – too many to mention individually – but if you have supported us in any way please be assured that we are extremely grateful. Thank you!
