Friday News 22.5.20

As you will have seen, plans have been made to allow some children back to schools in the Multi-Academy Trust from 2nd June. The site will remain closed to visitors and other year groups until further notice.

Thank you for the wonderful messages of support, videos and gifts that teachers received on Wednesday. These were really welcomed, and very much appreciated.

If you haven’t already done so, please could all families with children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 to respond to our Trust survey (https://tinyurl.com/STAR-attendance) about the phased wider re-opening of schools. This is not a firm commitment, but will help us plan further detail. Should the plan for wider re-opening go ahead after government assessment on 28th May, we will write out with full details at that point and request a firm indication for each child in the initial year groups programmed to start.

When school resumes, the way we operate will be very different. We will not return to our usual ways for some time. Children will have different start and end times to their day, and adults will be expected to maintain social distancing at all times. School will close at 12pm for half a day every Wednesday to allow for additional cleaning. Parents of children who are due to return will be given information about our new practices in due course. Please be assured that we are doing everything that we can to make reintegration into school safe and successful for everyone. Detailed risk assessments are in place to keep all our children and adults safe, and we anticipate that the changes we implement will be in operation for some time.

As next week is half term, teachers will not be setting new distance learning tasks for their class and will not be commenting or feeding back upon work. Virtual meetings will also not take place. Once we return after half term some changes to distance learning may be needed because staff will be deployed to teach groups of children in school. Any classes that are affected by this will be informed in due course.

As churches cannot accept congregations into services at the moment they are providing worship online. Please do have a look, and share these with your children.
