Friday News 25.10.19

Dear Parents/Carers,

The school target for w/c 4.11.19 is to ‘Be present’.

As the first half term of the school year draws to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to thank everybody for their continued positivity and support. This year has marked the start of a new phase for use through federation with Saxton, and this is working well because we have the help and support of our community – thank you. We particularly like to congratulate all those who have started at our school this term. All our new children are confident, happy learners and have begun the year brilliantly – well done!

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the PTA quiz on 8th November. These are selling well and it promises to be another fun evening.

Thank you for making your appointments for the learning review evenings in November. We would like to confirm that they are to be attended by parents/carers only. At the meeting, class teachers will take the opportunity to update you on how your child has settled into their new class. Information relating to the mid-term assessments will be provided at a later date.

Over recent weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of children being collected late at the end of the school day. Whilst we fully appreciate that delays cannot always be avoided, we politely request that you make your own arrangements wherever possible for your child to be collected then advise the office of these arrangements. Due to their own work commitments, staff are not available at the end of the day to continue provision. Many thanks in advance.

Buying books for Christmas presents?  Have a look at https://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/bigbookboost

If you spend over £10 you can choose to donate £1 of their money to our school to use to buy more books.

Do you have a shout out for any of our staff, if so we would love to hear from you.  Click this link to give your comments.  https://forms.gle/XJBDac9LBehbv8s56 This link will remain open so you keep the shout outs coming throughout the year.

Children In Need – This year, we are super-excited to announce that our chosen theme for Children in Need day is ….ROCKSTARS!! This will tie in nicely with other areas of our curriculum and we hope to see as many children as possible dressed as their favourite rockstar. From a simple pair of sunglasses or wig, to a full-on outfit with inflatable guitar – the brasher, the better!! Let’s find our inner rockstars and raise as much money as possible for this wonderful cause. Children wearing fancy dress are asked to bring a £1 donation to school on Friday, 15th November. Many thanks in advance.  May we remind you that is optional, children do not have to dress up if they don’t want to.

Don’t forget that the clocks go back this weekend. When we come back to school, the nights will be getting darker and colder. Please ensure that your child is well-equipped for the conditions by having the appropriate clothing. When they are going home in the evening it it important they can be seen. Reflectors on bookbags or coats are a good way of achieving this.

We will be selling poppies and other merchandise in support of the Royal British Legion from 4th November, these will be available every morning break outside the year 6 classroom.

Suggested donations;

Zip pull 50p, Reflector 50p, Silicon wristband £1,  Snap band £1.50,  Standard poppy £1, Knitted/crocheted poppies £2
