Friday News 26.10.18
Dear Parents/Carers,
Please take time to talk about our school values for next week with your child.
We encourage excellence in both teaching and learning.
Next week’s school target is to take responsibility for all your belongings.
Don’t forget that the school disco is the first Wednesday back, 7th November. The 5-6pm session is for EY & KS1 children, and 6-7pm is for KS2.
We have noticed that some families are remaining on the school site after school, particularly on Fridays. We must stress that children are parents’ responsibility after 3.30pm and must be supervised at all times. We had a reported near miss last week that could have been avoided with closer supervision.
This year we will be running our first ‘Christmas Market’, late night shopping event to help raise much needed funds for our school via the PTA. This will be held on the evening of Wednesday 5th December. We are looking to have a variety of stalls included at our Christmas market including craft stalls, food items, books, hampers etc. We are looking for local businesses and individuals to sell their quality products at the market. If you would like to be a seller at this event please contact Hannah Alderson on 07976925287 or hannahrae84@hotmail.com. The price of a stall is only £10 and a raffle donation. We will not be duplicating similar items so to secure your place please get in touch quickly before someone else does. If you would like to be involved as a much needed volunteer at this event please also get in touch with Hannah Alderson.
Village Bonfire
The Village Bonfire Team have been working hard planning and organising the annual event which is set for the evening of Saturday 3rd November at Monk Fryston & Hillam Community Centre. All we need now is some help to put the final touches to staging the event and then just as importantly, clearing up afterwards. So, if you could spare a couple of hours or so your help would be more than appreciated at the following times:
- Saturday Morning 9am onwards – to build the Bonfire and get the site set up so we can have a safe, secure and enjoyable event which starts at 5.30pm
- Sunday Morning 9am onwards to clear and reset the Community Centre and grounds ready for ‘normal’ Monday morning. There will be bacon sandwiches on offer to tempt people out of bed.
We are spending more money than ever before on the Firework display, so if last year was anything to go by its sure to be good (and hopefully less windy).
Half-price Advanced tickets are on sale now at the Village store and The Potting Shed – be sure to get them in advance as we only have 1,000 tickets for sale and given that South Milford has been cancelled this year we are expecting extra visitors.
Please come and help – many hands make light work
