Dear Parents/Carers,
Next week’s school target is to show respect to everybody.
Thurs 3rd Oct is Yorkshire Hot Dog Day, cook will be making tasty hot dogs for all children having school dinners next week. Not normally school dinners? This is a great week to try them, children just let the class teacher know Monday morning when they are doing the lunch register and parents pay £11.50 on ParentPay.
We have seen a huge increase in un-named lost property since the start of term. Our year 6’s are now going to give up their lunchtime to sort it out so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE name everything!!! Lunchboxes, water bottles, coats, shoes, trainers, PE kits as well as the usual uniform. This way we can try and help you by returning it to the rightful owner. You can check the lost property box anytime you are school if you have anything missing, it’s just in the school entrance.
As you know, reading is a vital life skill and we treat it really importantly at Monk Fryston School. We encourage children to read widely and often, and they will have many opportunities to develop their love of reading through our guided reading lessons, sessions in the library, and class stories. We have created a leaflet with advice about how you can support your child to read at home. If you would like any further information or guidance, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher.
If you would like to improve your fitness in a friendly and supportive group then come along to circuit training on a Monday and/or Thursday evening in the school hall. Everyone is welcome, whether you exercise regularly or haven’t done anything for a long time. It starts at 8.10pm for an hour and costs £1.50. All proceeds go to the PTA.
Disco on Thurs 10th October, 5-6pm for Rec, Y1 & Y2, 6-7pm for yrs 3 to 6. £2 entry on the door, snacks & drinks available.
