Thank you for continuing to support your children so well at home. It looks like everyone is getting into the routine of home learning, and most people are managing to access activities on the online systems such as Google Classroom. If you are having any difficulties please email your child’s class teacher and they will be happy to help.
We enjoy seeing the things that you have been doing with your child. The organisation of home learning and the vast range of creative ideas is wonderful. If you have done something that you are particularly proud of please send a photograph into school so that we can keep it for our records – we love to see what you have been doing! We understand that every situation will be different, and so don’t intend sharing these with others at this point.
We are pleased that social distancing seems to be working well for our school, and we have no reported cases of illness. Although most members of the school community are remaining at home, staff are working on a rota to support the delivery of childcare for essential workers each day. We are communicating with other schools in the MAT and the Local Authority to have a co-ordinated approach across our area.
I have asked teachers to check in with families on a regular basis. This may be through messages on Google, looking at the activities that children have accessed, or through a phone call or email. This isn’t intended to be intrusive or challenging. We understand how hard this time is for everyone and just want to show that we are here to help if we can.
Much of the learning that has been set by school can be self-checked. Teachers aren’t providing feedback on each piece of work because this would not always be practical or productive. However, they may provide suggestions on writing that is submitted electronically so that children can make improvements and move their learning on.
Obviously, the next two weeks are the normal school Easter holidays and so teachers are not expected to set home learning tasks in the way that they have been doing. They may suggest some online holiday activities that children may find beneficial, or share interesting websites that they have found. Home learning tasks will continue from Monday 20th April.
Please continue to follow government guidelines and keep up the amazing job of keeping our community safe.
