Friday News 31.3.17

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week’s school target is – Remember to keep the cloakrooms tidy and take home all belongings at the end of the week.

Please take time to talk about our school values for next week with your child.
We encourage interest in exploring and improving understanding of local and global communities, enabling children to contribute positively to life in modern Britain.

Our top attendees this week are Year 1 with 99.7% attendance. Well done!

Don’t forget that we are inviting children to decorate a hard boiled egg at home and bring it into school on Monday. We will display all the eggs in the hall and you are welcome to come and look at them after school. The PTA have kindly bought prizes for the best decorated eggs.

Thank you to everyone who attended the PTA quiz last week. It was another fantastic evening; congratulations to the winning team. We know that a good amount of money was raised for our outdoor area project, and hope to announce a final total soon. Particular thanks go to everyone who helped to organise and clear up after the event – your help is really appreciated!

Next Friday, some of our Year 6 children are organising a talent show to showcase the varied and amazing talents of the children in our school. Unfortunately, the lack of space in the hall means that we are unable to open this event to parents. We will share images of the event on social media, so please do follow us and have a look. There will be no assembly on that day.

Our Easter service is taking place in church next Thursday, 6th April at 9.30am. Parents are invited to join us, but as the whole school will be present please note that space will be limited. If you are joining us, please sit in the side pews as the central ones are reserved for the school.

Thank you to everyone who donated to Comic Relief last Friday, you helped us raise £374.17. Fantastic!

Year 4 will be selling chocolate truffles next week to the other children in school on the following break times.

The Philippine Community Fund (PCF) are trying to help children and families who currently survive by finding things on dump sites to sell, so that they can buy food. This causes illness. The PCF are training people to make bags and jewellery out of ring pulls to sell instead. Please can you help us by collecting ring pulls from drinks cans (not food tins). There will be a box in the entrance hall for you to put them in.

Local Churches at Monk Fryston and Birkin are staging a ‘Weekend of Wonder’ for anyone interested in local history. Please see their flyer attached for full information.
