Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week’s school target; Remember to come to school dressed appropriately for the weather.

The weather is turning colder and increasingly miserable, and we have noticed that a number of children aren’t coming to school equipped for the conditions. It is important that all children have a coat and jumper with them at all times, and in particularly poor conditions we will insist that they wear coats at playtimes.

PTA are selling personalised Santa Sacks to raise funds for new IT equipment in school. Details on the website under the letters tab. A sample of the sacks are available to view in the school entrance, they really do look a lot nicer than on the photos. Orders to be made via Parent Pay. Last day for orders Tuesday 8th December. Thank you.

We know that our children are growing up in a digital age in which they have easy and frequent access to technology. It is important that when using devices they keep themselves safe. We have guidance to help them in school, and will publish a new agreement for digital use in the new year. You can find useful guidance on keeping your child safe at home at: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/ orhttps://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/

Well done to everyone who took part in the Sumdog contest this week. Year 5 were the top class from our school – congratulations. The top student from our school was William Lonsdale in Year 3, who came 25th out of all the students in North Yorkshire, which is a fantastic effort! Sumdog questions have been adjusted this term and may appear to be too difficult at first, but please persevere as the system will automatically adjust after 150 questions have been attempted.

Our Christmas post box is now in the school entrance and we will happily distribute cards through our postal system to children in our school. Please note that we are unable to send cards to relatives and friends outside school! Envelopes should be addressed with the pupil’s full name and class please, so that we ensure they are delivered to the right person.

During this term our school council created a code of conduct for our lunchtimes. This is on display in our hall, and we would greatly appreciate you supporting us by reinforcing the same behaviours at home. Do have a look at the signs that have been created when you next visit our hall.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is our Christmas Fayre from 12pm – 2pm. There will be plenty to do, and we are serving pie and peas so that you can have your lunch whilst you browse our stalls. All proceeds from the Fayre will go towards the PTA project to replace our classroom projection facilities, so please give generously. Any donations of cakes or buns on the day would be appreciated.

Bag2school will be collecting any clothing donations at 9.15am Tuesday 8th Dec. If you have any bags to bring to school please bring them to the office either 3.30pm Monday or 9am Tuesday.

Details of the February and Easter 2016 Step into Sport Activity Days have been added to our website under the ‘Community’ tab. Full details and booking forms are available to print, if you would like a copy printing then please contact the office. These days are open to children aged 7+.

We have been asked to circulate this survey to parents. If you could spare a few minutes to complete it it would be appreciated. There are 2 main questions which we have shown below.

1. What would make life better where you live?
2. What ideas do you have that would benefit your community?
