Congratulations to a pupil in Year 6 who has received the Governors’ Award for the Autumn term. This recognises the pupils who has best enacted the school’s ethos and values. This young man always shows respect towards others. He always models British values and has made a significant contribution to the school community through his role as an Eco-Warrior, and to the wider community by voluntarily raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. He received a £10 book token in recognition of his award.

This is awarded to the pupil who has best enacted the ethos and values of our school. The winner has not only applied herself fully to her learning since the start of the term, but has demonstrated an excellent attitude towards all things at school. She has shown respect towards everyone, and has cared for younger children at playtimes to ensure that they play and behave well. She is an excellent role model and worthy winner, and was presented the award by one of the governors, Mrs Tuddenham, at the carol service in church.

Governors make the award to a pupil who has visibly enacted the school’s aims and ethos. This child has done particularly well within their classroom this term, and has also raised significant money for charity in their spare time. The Chair of Governors, Mr Sheppard, visited school to present a book token to the winner in assembly.

]]> 3303 Young Leaders Award https://monkfryston.n-yorks.sch.uk/frontpage-featured/young-leaders-award/ Wed, 20 Jul 2016 14:33:22 +0000 https://monkfryston.n-yorks.sch.uk/?p=2729 Throughout this year, our Year 4 pupils have worked towards the Archbishop’s Youth Trust Young Leaders award. They learnt how to be leaders and identified a project in the community that they would like to improve. The wanted to “Be the change that you want to see”. They chose to improve the Green outside school, and so with the support of the Parish Council they have removed litter and weeds, planted new bulbs, refurbished the woodwork, and installed new nesting boxes. They really have made a big difference!
In recognition of their great work they were presented the Young Leaders Award by the Bishop of Selby, and by Ben Fry the morning presenter on Minster FM at a grand ceremony at Monk Fryston Hall. This was a lovely occasion and it was fitting to celebrate their achievements.
