They learnt how to be leaders and identified a project in the community that they would like to improve. The wanted to “Be the change that you want to see”. They chose to improve the Green outside school, and so with the support of the Parish Council they have removed litter and weeds, planted new bulbs, refurbished the woodwork, and installed new nesting boxes. They really have made a big difference!
In recognition of their great work they were presented the Young Leaders Award by the Bishop of Selby, and by Ben Fry the morning presenter on Minster FM at a grand ceremony at Monk Fryston Hall. This was a lovely occasion and it was fitting to celebrate their achievements.

We held a brilliant picnic to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday! The whole school ate outside, and although it was a bit cold we had a lovely party. Everyone had made kites with the union flag on that we flew (and got a bit tangled!) and then our Year 6 pupils organised games with a ‘royal’ theme. Everyone had a wonderful time.
We want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone in Year 6 for organising this for us. We know it took a lot of work, but it was definitely worth it. We are very proud of you all, because you did an amazing job.
