Gold School Games Mark!

We are delighted to announce that we have once again achieved the School Games Mark Gold Award for the 2017/18 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Y2 Beanbag Rounders 30.3.17

Well done to the 14 Y2’s that competed in the Beanbag Rounders event yesterday. Mrs Cole & Miss Fletcher said their behaviour was impeccable and they were a credit to our school. Fantastic to hear! And to top it off they came 2nd!!!!!!

Y4 Basketball Festival

8 Year 4’s took part in a basketball festival yesterday competing against other schools in our area. They showed great enthusiasm and played their very best. Miss Jaques was extremely impressed with you all!

Yr 1 X-Country Event

Year 1 had a great time taking part in the X-Country event today at South Milford Primary School. All the children ran really well and gave it their all. They even got a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!!!

Their behaviour was excellent and they represented our school extremely well.

What a beautiful day to be out running.

KS2 Level 2 X-Country 16.11.16

We had a brilliant morning at Tadcaster Grammar School competing in the Level 2 cross country event. 21 children from our school represented the Sherburn Cluster and 3 made it to the Level 3 finals at Dalby Forest where they will represent the Selby District Team on 23rd March 2017.

Well done to everyone who took part, we are very proud of you.

Also a big thank you to all our parent helpers, we really couldn’t do it without your support!!

Rucking Rugby Stars!

What an afternoon the year 6 Rugby Team had, finishing a creditable fourth in the Selby District Rugby Tournament held at Selby RUFC. This was only after losing a very close third place playoff final. It was a really fantastic achievement, from a very enthusiastic and determined team. Especially, considering they had only played Rugby in P.E. twice and never before as a team, until their actual first game!
A tremendous effort!

Hi 5 Netball 20.10.16

Eight year 5 and 6 pupils went to Sherburn High School for a cluster Hi- 5 tournament ( a simpler form of netball with just 5 players on court at a time). Despite coming 6th we showed outstanding knowledge of the rules and regulations and tactical play. I’m very proud of them all. Well done.

Y5 Football Festival 29.9.16

Heads held high

A newly assembled team of year 5 boys’ footballers put in a very competitive performance in a recent 6 a side tournament against other year 5 and 6 teams. Winning their first game 3-1 they then remained unbeaten until meeting the eventual tournament winner (South Milford) in their final game. The team played great football and showed excellent team work & sportsmanship throughout, eventually finishing a very creditable 3rd.

Well done year 5!

Year 6 visit to Wimbledon

Some lucky Year 6 pupils visited Wimbledon for the final Thursday of the tennis championships. Although there was a lot of interest, we could only obtain 8 tickets in the ballot. Those selected were accompanied by Mr Weights and Mrs Dawber on the 7.30am train from Selby. We watched doubles matched on Court No 1 and had the chance to try some tennis activities with coaches in the Play Tennis tent before returning via crowded Tube and overland trains back to school for 11pm. It was a long, but brilliantly memorable day which we hope will inspire our pupils to take up tennis themselves.
We were very proud of all our children, and their behaviour was complimented by members of the public – well done everyone!
