Congratulations to one of our Year 6 pupils who has received the Governor Award for the Autumn term. This is awarded to the pupil who has best enacted the ethos and values of our school. The winner has not only applied herself fully to her learning since the start of the term, but has demonstrated an excellent attitude towards all things at school. She has shown respect towards everyone, and has cared for younger children at playtimes to ensure that they play and behave well. She is an excellent role model and worthy winner, and was presented the award by one of the governors, Mrs Tuddenham, at the carol service in church.

Governor Award

Congratulations to a pupil in our Year 3 class who won the Governor Award this term. Governors make the award to a pupil who has visibly enacted the school’s aims and ethos. This child has done particularly well within their classroom this term, and has also raised significant money for charity in their spare time. The Chair of Governors, Mr Sheppard, visited school to present a book token to the winner in assembly.

County Council Debating Competition

Well done to our team of Year 6 pupils who represented the school in the County Council debating competition. They had to debate: “Do you think our climate is changing?”, presenting both sides of the argument as well as asking and answering questions. Our area heat took place in the Selby District Council chambers and was judged by a panel of local, district and county councillors.

Our team were fantastic! They spoke very clearly and articulately and had obviously researched the topic thoroughly. Unfortunately, they didn’t win but did represent our school extremely well and should be proud of themselves. They learnt a lot about the political process and experienced speaking in a large venue. Despite a large amount of evidence for and against the motion, they remain undecided and climate change continues to be a topic of debate!
