NCTL National Teaching School lock up (colour)

We are a National Teaching School, designated by DFE in 2016.

As a National Teaching School and a National Support School we have numerous partnerships that support our school improvement work.

The headteacher, Mr Rick Weights, is a National Leader of Education (NLE) and supports school improvement work in a number of schools in the region. He is also a lead reviewer for peer reviews of schools.

Both assistant headteachers, Mrs Val Law and Miss Jessica Dales, are Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE) and are involved in school improvement work throughout the region.

Our system leaders can be contacted through the STAR Teaching School Alliance.

We are part of the STAR Teaching School Alliance of schools (Sherburn, Tadcaster and Rural). Through this partnership we are developing the educational provision for all children in our area, and providing school improvement support throughout Yorkshire and the Humber. Our aim is to ensure that all pupils, from 0-19, receive a high standard of education in a school or setting that is good or better. We have rigorous development plans to ensure that the alliance keeps improving. These include approaches to teaching and learning, raising achievement, and developing high quality leadership in all our schools.
