We are driven by our Christian vision:
Good people, doing well
(Titus 3:14)
Everyone who spends time learning and growing at Monk Fryston Church of England Primary School flourishes. They become a good person and a successful individual who understands the importance that friendship, justice and compassion play in living a productive life. We have endurance to persevere in the face of challenges, and together we create a loving and caring community who are able to look up and aim high.
This informs the decisions that we make and the interactions we have at all times throughout the school day. We want everyone to flourish here, and work hard to ensure that they do.
Our vision has been created by leaders, governors, staff and pupils as a representative description of what we aspire for everyone. We know that if we understand how to look after and love one another, following the guidance we find in the bible and treating other people well, our behaviours and interactions will be positive. If we can achieve this, and be good people, we are well placed to achieve success and do well in all forms of life. We are confident that this happens at Monk Fryston.
As a Church of England Primary School, we teach children Christian values that support their overall personal development. These are often taught through collective worship (assembly) that happens every day and is distinctly Christian in nature. Three are times for spiritual reflection where children can develop an awareness of themselves and things that are bigger than them. This reflection also takes place throughout te curriculum, and in reflection spaces in classrooms and our garden.
We follow the locally agreed syllabus for RE, in line with most other schools in our Trust. Children will learn about a range of world religions, as well as Christianity.
As a Church School, we have parish representation on our governing body. This ensures that our work continues to follow the original foundation upon which our school was established. We maintain excellent relationships with our parish and visit church for all the major festivals, and at least once every term.
