Y4 York Chocolate Story

Year 4 enjoyed a chocarific trip to York’s Chocolate Story last Wednesday! We began the day with a tour of the factory which started with a sample of real chocolate to taste (always a good sign!)We then learnt all about the history of chocolate, both worldwide and in York itself. Later on, we explored the virtual chocolate factory, learning about the process of bean to bar through an interactive workbench, and we were even trained in how to become chocolate eating connoisseurs! Finally, the tour ended with an explanation on how to make blueberry and vanilla truffles by a very talented chocolatier – simply amazing! Our day did not finish there though – next it was our turn to put into practise what we had learnt – we created our own truffles…this became rather messy as we (including the teachers) struggled to execute the tricky task of dipping with one hand and decorating with the other!!! We still have room for improvement in our decorative skills, but no one can deny – they still tasted good! What a fabulous day to remember.
