Football Festival 8.6.16

Congratulations to our superb Yr 5 & 6 Girls Football Team.

Despite never playing together as a team, even in their two playtime practice matches, the ten girls were very positive as they attended a local schools football event. And as it turned out, quite rightly too!

Our first game was against our local ‘rivals’ South Milford and in a tight end to end encounter Monk Fryston emerged 1 – 0 winners. This was a great start and even more so as the Monk Fryston girls played with only 6 players against 7! Due to a misunderstanding with the match official!

From then on and with a full compliment of 7 players, and the admirable support of the girls who adopted a rotation system for each match, we went on to draw our second game against Barkston Ash A (1-1)and win the remaining two games each by 2-1 (against Barkston Ash B and then Kirk Fenton).

Throughout the tournament Monk Fryston were the only unbeaten team, a fantastic achievement and were named the winners.

It was a great afternoon’s football with all players and teams putting on a fabulous sporting display. Very well done girls.
